I’m excited to be Canada’s first Certified Positive Discipline trainer and am looking forward offering training workshops here in Canada!
Parent Educator Training:
The "Teaching Parenting the Positive Discipline Way" (developed by Jane Nelsen and Lynn Lott) two day training workshop provides a step-by-step approach to starting and leading experientially based Positive Discipline parenting groups. Participants learn research-based, effective tools for teaching parents how to use discipline that is non punitive as well as kind and firm at the same time.
Training for Individuals in School Settings:
“Positive Discipline in the Classroom” (also developed by Lynn Lott and Jane Nelsen) two day training workshop is designed for teachers, counsellors, school staff and administrators who want an effective discipline approach that integrates social and emotional learning while reducing challenging student behaviours at the same time. Completion of this workshop qualifies participants to offer Positive Discipline workshops to their peers within the educational setting.
Interest in Positive Discipline is growing in Canada and plans are in the works to offer a "Teaching Parenting the Positive Discipline Way" training workshop in Calgary late this fall or early in 2012 and a “Positive Discipline in the Classroom” training workshop within the next few months as well.
In the meantime, a number of training opportunities are available in the United States and are posted on the Positive Discipline Association website www.positivediscipline.org.
If you have interest in attending either Positive Discipline
training workshop in Canada, please contact me, Ruth Buffam, as I am keeping a current list of interested individuals and organizations.
Or, bring a training to your organization!
